Quinn Rejects Casino Bill, Danville Hopes to Override
DANVILLE - Danville city leaders are unhappy by Governor Quinn's choice to veto Senate Bill 1849.
The bill would have allowed a casino for Danville and four other locations in Illinois, as well as slot machines at horse racing tracks. Governor Quinn cited ethical concerns as his reason for rejecting the legislation.
Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says he hopes lawmakers will override the veto. He says a casino would bring jobs, revenue and tourism to Danville.
