CHAMPAING IL – New simulators for Champaign Police should make training cheaper, and more efficient. City Council approved the department to use a federal grant to buy the new firearms and use-of-force simulator.
The simulator is like a life sized video game, and will train officers throughout the year, and around the clock. Making most training sessions take half the time and police can make their own scenarios to train with.
The simulators have been budgeted for two years from the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant that they receive annually.
