SPRINGFIELD IL – The Red Cross is assisting a family of three after a fire started early Saturday morning. Just before three in the morning a fire broke out in a home in the 11 hundred block of East Miller Street in Springfield.
The house is broken up into apartment style units and a fire started in one of those units. A family of two adults and one child lived in that unity. Authorities say the amount of smoke and fire forced the family to find alternative shelter.
The Red Cross is now providing food and accommodations for the family.
