CHAMPAIGN - Members and supporters of the Champaign Federation of Teachers picketed Monday night's school board meeting.
The teachers are currently working without a contract. Last year's contract expired in June and imposed a salary freeze. Now teachers say they're fighting for better terms. Outstanding issues include pension payments, salary, and teacher collaboration schedules.
Since April, several bargaining sessions have taken place. A second mediation session is scheduled for Wednesday. Both parties say they hope to reach an agreement soon.
