GILMAN - A reception honoring local first responders was held at the Ford-Iroquios County Farm Bureau on Tuesday.
The event included a moment of silence for fallen 9/11 heroes, a performance of "God Bless America," and a video montage of area first responders in action. State Treasurer Dan Rutherford made an appearance and thanked the local servicemen. He introduced Donovan Area Asst. Fire Chief David Munson, who traveled east on three occasions to assist 9/11 first responders.
The reception was co-sponsored by the Iroquios County Republican Women and Gilman Healthcare. Various fire departments subsequently led a processional to Paxton for a similar event honoring Ford County first responders.
