Event to Help Veterans with Business Opportunities
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Military veterans who own businesses or have entrepreneurial aspirations can learn how to start or expand at an event in Bartonville.
"Mission: Veterans 2 Entrepreneurs" will advise ambitious veterans on procurement opportunities with the state of Illinois along with federal and local government agencies.
The event will take place Sept. 28 at American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville.
Many not-for-profit organizations and local government agencies that provide assistance to small business owners will also attend.
They include Governors State University's Veterans Entrepreneurial Boot Camp, the International Franchise Association and the Small Business Development Center.
The event is hosted by the Illinois Departments of Veterans' Affairs and Central Management Services. They will help veterans certify their companies as veteran-owned. That makes them eligible for special consideration on state contracts.
