Council Approves Two Memory Care Facilities

DECATUR-Alzheimer's and dementia: they're diseases that hit close to home for millions of Americans. And Monday night, city council green-lit two unrelated facilities in Decatur.

Each of them will offer care specifically for patients who are losing their memory.

At Imboden Creek, they've been planning for years to have a building designated for memory care. Their 20 bed facility will have a continuous floor plan to help reduce confusion.

The plans show a special entry so patients won't have to see family members leave,

and also it will keep them safe by preventing them from wandering off.

They've already cleared land behind their nursing facility and are in talks with builders.

The other facility council approved will be on the city's north side.  A Chicago area company has proposed to develop that 40- bed facility.
