Decatur - Twelve of the world's best anglers are set for a big day in Shelbyville. Thursday morning is the first day of Bassmaster's All-Star Week fishing tournament.
It'll start in Shelbyville and end in Decatur.
Bassmasters and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources are working together to make sure the fish are taken care of.
"Once the weigh-in is concluded, the DNR is going to be there with hatchery trucks and we're just going to load those fish back into the trucks where we've got pure oxygen and the water is cooled," DNR fisheries biologist Dan Stephenson told WAND News.
Should a fish not survive the trip from Shelbyville to Decatur in a competitors boat, that angler will be deducted points as a penalty, and in the end, that could mean big money for these guys, considering first place is $60,000.
In addition to the pro's fishing all four days, Veterans will get to fish with the pros on Saturday on Lake Shelbyville.
A tournament featuring eight college teams from Illinois will also take place on Lake Shelbyville on Sunday.
