Springfield IL – An African American friend of President Abraham Lincoln will be recognized next weekend. Jamieson Jenkins lived with Lincoln in Springfield, and was an active conductor on the Underground Railroad in the Capitol City.

He was buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery. September 30th at 4PM the site will be rededicated, with a blessing and talks about Jenkins' life. The rededication is sponsored by the Abraham Lincoln Association.
