Springfield IL – The Red Cross is busy helping families after two separate fires. The first took place at 12:30AM Sunday morning at 709 North 12th Street in Springfield.
Firefighters said they are
investigating how the single family home caught fire on the second floor,
causing heavy damage. The Red Cross is assisting four adults and seven children with shelter, food, and clothing.
The second fire started at 10:15 Sunday morning on 31 12 North Grand Avenue East. One person was affected by the fire.
Firefighters believe a
pet knocked over a lamp and the bulb caught fire causing nearly 30 thousand
dollars in damage.
The Red Cross is also providing food, clothing, and medication.
