Champaign School Budget


Champaign IL – The school board in Champaign passed their 2012 through 2013 school year budget last night. The budget will include a 1.7 million dollar surplus in operating funds.


Interim business manager Joe Davis said the district uses the operating funds on a daily basis. The budget did not include a raise for teachers. A new contract is still being negotiated with the district and teachers.


The budget also included an expected seven percent increase in insurance costs, plus salary and benefits for ten new teachers. Also in the budget, two new school buses, four activity buses, and hiring an educational facility planning firm.
