Illiopolis - For a whole year Larry Hinds, Cory Pritchett, and James Honea were away from their families serving their country.
All three soldiers told WAND News that long as they were together, even overseas, it still felt like home.
On Sunday, friends and family gathered at the Sangamon Valley Middle School to welcome them home. Last September the three men were deployed to serve with the U.S. Army National Guard.
After being a way for so long, Hinds said coming home has been an overwhelming experience.
"Everyone played a part while we were away. From the postmaster, to just local individuals who would step up. There were people here that came here today and took time out of their day that I haven't met once. So to have all these people come up is very overwhelming," Hinds told WAND News.
