SPRINGFIELD, IL-- A 6-year-old boy is still in serious condition after he was hit by a van just before five Thursday night.

He was hit near the intersection of Stevenson and Sheridan in Springfield. Police said the boy ran into the street and that the driver of the van was unable to avoid hitting him.

Police said the boy was still in the roadway when they arrived.
