Champaign IL – The Graduate
Employees Organization of the U of I could strike again. The GEO is holding a
membership only meeting tonight to discuss filing intent to strike paper with
the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board.
After meeting 18 times
between the GEO and University Administration representative, they have not
reached an agreement. They need to agree on major contract proposals with
tuition waiver protection, wages, and health care.
The filing intent comes
after a bargaining session that took place last week after 100 members walked
away feeling as if the administration is stalling. The GEO is still committed
to continuing to bargain for a fair contract.
