New Water Tower for Macon

Macon IL – An outdated water tower in Macon has been torn down. Construction workers tore through the structure just before noon on Tuesday.

The Macon city administrators said the city has a new water tower with five times the capacity, and repairing leaks in the old one just would not be cost effective.

The EPA requires water towers to have a day and a half supply of water, and the new tower will bring the city up to code.
