Springfield – The CWLP reached an agreement with 12 unions that will require electric employees to take furlough days.

It is part of the utility's "Share the Pain" plan to avoid layoffs. The plan includes an electric rate increase for customers, plus all electric employees to take five furlough days.

The individual unions will have to agree on the furlough days before the plan takes effect.
