Moweaqua IL – Thousands of dollars have gone to support breast cancer awareness thanks to students and faculty in Moweaqua.
Central A&M High School presented a seven thousand dollar check to St. Mary's Hospital today for awareness and research. St. Mary's president and CEO Kevin Kast attended the high school's "Real Men Wear Pink" rally, where he was greeted with a sea of pink.
The school held several fundraising events during football season and the month of October to raise the money. Students did anything they could to make the event a success "A lot of pink socks, a lot of pink everything. We went to stores and got pink, some guys got cleats. Real men wear pink, that's what we're about. "Us coming together, trying to fight that one cause is really amazing how we all want the same thing and that doesn't happen a lot." Logan Long and Lexee Smith, students at Central A&M, were proud to do so much for awareness.
St. Mary's president and CEO also challenged the school for next year. He said they will mach the funds they raise plus one dollar for each.
