DANVILLE - A county-owned nursing home may now be sold, following the result of a referendum on the general election ballot.
On Tuesday, the majority of Vermilion County residents voted "yes" to grant the county board power to sell the Vermilion Manor nursing home.
The nursing home has faced severe financial struggles as the result of delayed medicaid payments.
On Wednesday, residents and staff alike said they had mixed feelings about the vote. Many say the home could be saved with improved care if sold.
