Disabled Vet Speaks to Local Kids

Posted:

MT. ZION- Just in time for Veteran's day, a local wounded warrior shared his story with Mt. Zion students.

At Mt. Zion intermediate school, Purple Heart recipient Chad Watson spoke to fourth, fifth and sixth graders.

He was born and raised in Mt. Zion and in 2006, volunteered for the Marine Corps.  In that same year, he lost his right leg in a blast.  Since then, he's run a marathon, a triathlon and started a family.

He says he enjoys speaking with kids, to let them know young soldiers are making big sacrifices for them.

For the event the kids dressed in red, white, and blue to honor the vets in the audience.
