Cellini to begin serving sentence

Springfield IL – Former Springfield political powerbroker William Cellini has given up his fight to remain free while he appeals his corruption conviction.

Cellini will begin serving his one year sentence on January 4th. Cellini tried to extort a movie produced for a million dollar contribution, to then Governor Rod Blagojevich's campaign.

Cellini's attorney said the appeal would take longer than his sentence, and Cellini and his family want to put the legal saga behind them.
