
Springfield IL – The Illinois Department of Transportation is one step closer to building a high speed rail through Springfield.
Governor Pat Quinn announced Thursday that the Illinois Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad approved the full build out of the Chicago St. Louis high speed rail corridor. The statement suggests a consolidated train route along 10th street through Springfield.
Quinn says that through the 1.4 billion dollar grant to build the railway will create more than six thousand jobs.
