Internal review on officers firing weapons

Champaign IL – Champaign police are doing a pair on internal reviews, on officers firing their weapons.

The first was during a domestic disturbance call, during which a Police Sergeant fired his gun at the tires of a vehicle. No one was hurt.

The second involved a Champaign family, who called police when their dog was attacked by a pit bull.

The responding offer tried to shoot at the pit bull, but shot both dogs in the process. Now the police department is doing an internal investigation to make sure officers act accordingly in these situations.
