DECATUR- Police make an arrest in an arson and home burglary from last week. On November 19th, flames engulfed the home of Penny and Ed Govro of 1715 E. Cantrell. The fire claimed most of their possessions. But they had noticed something missing from the rubble: their 40 inch flat screen.
Now police have arrested 18-year-old Christopher Hardy, who they say is one of the men responsible for stealing that TV and setting the fire.
Police say the theft was caught on camera. They say surveillance video from the home shows two men breaking into the back of the house, removing a TV from the wall, and walking out of the house with it. They say two minutes later, the video shows the house filling with smoke.
Police are still looking for the other man in the video, who they say helped burglarize the home. and start the fire.
Meantime, the Govros try to pick up the pieces. Though many people have helped them they still have many needs after they lost everything.
More details now on how you can help...
Penny and Ed Govro have an account at Busey bank in downtown Decatur.
Anyone wanting to help out just needs to tell the teller it's a donation for Ed and Penny's house fire fund. The Govros also have no furniture and any donations would be appreciated.
