Shooting leads to a Car Crash

Champaign -

Update: Champaign – Police are investigating a shooting that led to a crash.

 

Police say just before 9:30 Sunday night a woman crashed her van into a home in the nine hundred block of West Church Street after being shot.

 

According to police, a suspect has been located. The suspect ran from the scene immediately after the shooting. Police say that the victim knew the man who shot her. The woman was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital. There is no word yet on her condition.

 

After the victim and witnesses were interviewed police began searching for the suspect, who was later located in his home, in the 100 block of West Church Street. According to police the suspect was alert and conscious after they found him to have serious self inflicted injuries.

 

The suspect was taken into medical custody after police attempted to gain his cooperation. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical attention and has not been arrested at this time.
