Springfield IL – Stricter water restrictions could take effect in Springfield.

The city says it could include higher fees for those who use more water, such as larger businesses. Tuesday morning Lake Springfield was more than three feet below normal levels, making it the lowest it has been in five years.

If the lake hits below four feet, the city will move to stage four water restrictions.
