Champaign Police Assist with Holiday Shopping

CHAMPAIGN - Over thirty children took part in the Champaign Police Department's annual Shop with a Cop event at Meijer on Wednesday.

Each child was awarded $125 to purchase holiday gifts and other items. The event is a part of Meijer's annual Shop with a Hero program held at over 100 locations.

Funds come from Meijer, the police department and private donors.

Families are selected following nominations from officers and other community members.
