SPRINGFIELD -- Mothers Against Drunk Driving's Illinois office released a DUI conviction report card Thursday.
Four years of data from nine Illinois counties went into the study. The toughest counties received green scores, less strict counties were graded red based on the percentage of guilty verdicts in DUI cases. MADD Illinois Executive Director Susan McKeigue says, along with population, a number of other factors effect those scores.
"It can happen on the whole continuum, from the street to the courthouse. We don't have a lot of resources. Resources are stripped, that's why we have to set priorities, policies, and protocols. However, in some places DUIs are not high-priority," said McKeigue.
Macon and Champaign counties scored yellow, or moderate, while Sangamon county received a green grade.
