Man released from jail after Decatur murder speaks out

DECATUR -- The man previously arrested for the murder of Isaiah Wiley, 21, was released from jail Wednesday and spoke to exclusively to WAND.

Lowell Turner, 32, was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Wiley. Wiley was shot to death in the 400 block of E. Waggoner St. Sunday.

Lowell was behind bars for three days.. on a $10 million bond, but police released him Wednesday.

Both Decatur Police and State's Attorney Jay Scott told WAND there wasn't enough evidence to charge Lowell with the crime. Witness accounts didn't match up, leaving police without enough probable cause against Turner.

Turner said he's been having a breakdown since the arrest. That's why he wanted to speak out. He claims he's an innocent man.

"I've done bad things in my past, but one thing I haven't ever done is picked up a gun and killed a person," Lowell said.

No other arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone with information to call Macon County Crimestoppers at 423-TIPS.
