The Labor Department enforces occupational safety and health standards for the state's public sector. It's Safety Inspection and Education Division also provides consulting services to smaller businesses.

The 2012 Governor's Award went to Michael Connors. He's a former regional administrator for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
