Springfield – Several new laws will take effect January 1st.
Caylee's Law will require harsher punishments against parents who fail to report a missing child. This comes after Casey Anthony was found "not guilty" last year.
The law requires parents or guardians to report the disappearance or death of any child 13 and under, within 24 hours. Those providing false information to police can be charged with obstruction of justice.
