Historic Building Could be Torn Down

Paxton IL – 18 months after being named one of the State's 10 most endangered historic places, the oldest building in Paxton could be torn down.

The 141 year old former jail and sheriff's residence, sits on Courthouse Square in the small Ford County town. Last week the county board made plans to tear down the historic complex in the spring.

The building could stay open if a non-profit group will commit to restoring the building.
