Champaign – The man who fell into a frozen pond died of drowning.

20 year old, Kenneth Brown was fleeing from officers after causing a disturbance at McAlister's Deli in Champaign. He ran right onto a frozen pond, and was in the freezing water for an hour.

The Champaign County Coroner says, Brown's preliminary cause of death is drowning. Brown died at Carle Hospital about eight hours after he was rescued from the water.

Champaign police continue to investigate his death.
