Top site for finding a flexible job, including telecommuting, part-time and more, details jobs with the most open positions hiring through last month.
Boulder, Colo. (PRWEB) January 07, 2013
As the New Year kicks off, FlexJobs’ analyzed job data for December 2012 indicates the possible trends for career fields with the most opportunity in 2013. According to the Flexible Job Index (FJI), the career fields with the most available flexible jobs listed include:
1. Medical & Health
3. Customer Service
5. Education & Training
The Medical & Health career category has held the top spot consecutively for over two years.
“As far as career sustainability, Medical & Health related positions seem to be the safest bet,” shared Sara Sutton Fell, CEO of FlexJobs. “Often, people can get caught up in the next big gold rush, so to speak, such as social media, but it’s been interesting to see the most consistent job openings are often in what could be considered 'old fashion' categories.”
Industries that saw the largest increases of employment opportunities from November to December are as follows:
1. Retail up 52.17%
2. Account Management up 34.40%
3. Sales up 24.17%
4. Bilingual up 23.27%
5. Computer & IT up 7.55%
“Seasonal jobs definitely affected December retail job numbers,” Fell stated. “Jobs typically associated with holiday shopping saw big increases.”
The ongoing Flexible Job Index report tracks the availability and variety in the employment market for telecommuting, part-time, and other flexible jobs, and provides reliable data on top career fields that offer work flexibility. Data includes positions listed on the site directly by employers as well as jobs found by FlexJobs’ trained staff of researchers who scour hundreds of online sources, including industry blogs, employer websites, job boards, job feeds, and more. Only professional jobs that can both be confirmed as legitimate and as having some kind of work flexibility (telecommuting, part-time or flexible schedule, or freelance contracts) are included in FlexJobs’ job database.
