Poverty Rates Low in Illinois - Wandtv.com, NewsCenter17, StormCenter17, Central Illinois News-

A new report on poverty here in Illinois shows some interesting findings in our area.

Nine counties have poverty rates above 20 percent. Here in Central Illinois, Champaign County actually has the highest poverty rate at more than 23 percent. Sangamon County is at 16 percent and Macon County just under 15 percent.

The report ranks a family of four in poverty, if it has an annual income below 23 thousand dollars.
