DECATUR -- Local artists are being asked to help beautify downtown Decatur.
The Decatur Arts Council is taking design entries for its city-wide mural project. That means several downtown buildings will soon be getting a boost.
Artists will be working with blank wall canvases like the one behind Central Illinois Title Company.
Arts Council Executive Director Jerry Johnson said it will be painted this summer, but the arts council wants more ideas.
"This will help enhance downtown, just like the streetscape project has done," Johnson said. "The goal is to give people a sense of pride in their community and in downtown."
