Senator Durbin: Closer to passing immigration reform

Springfield – Senator Dick Durbin says the chances are good that the U.S. Senate will pass immigration reform.

Durbin says that he is one of three Democrats working with three Republicans to draft an immigration bill. He says all six senators agree that the legislation should include "The Dream Act" making college affordable for undocumented immigrants.

Durbin explains that the bill will need support of the Hispanic Caucus and Republicans, so compromise is necessary. He was not able to speculate about the prospects of approval in the republican-controlled house.
