Blue Mound – A crash results in one death on Route 48 and Andrews Road, just north of Blue Mound, at 7:38 Tuesday morning.
Sheriff's Officers say a white car with 16 year old driver, a 41 year old male passenger and three year old passenger, all of Blue Mound, were traveling west on Andrews Road. The car failed to stop, crashing into a red car traveling north bound. The car was operated by a 77 year old from Stonington with an 80 year old passenger.
One person died as a result of the crash. Mary Blome, age 80, the passenger of the red car, from Stonington was pronounced dead at 9:21 am at St. Mary's Hospital, from blunt force trauma.
Four occupants of the vehicles were taken to the hospital with none life threatening injuries. Macon County Sheriff's Officers are investigating the crash. An inquest is pending.
