Mattoon – More people are taking the Amtrak for their trips.

The Mattoon Amtrak says, over the past seven years their numbers have gone up more than two hundred and 50 percent. In 2012, more than 40 thousand people took the Amtrak in Mattoon, with their busiest month being December.

The stations highest traveled routes are to Carbondale and Chicago.
