SPRINGFIELD, Ill.
(AP) -- Illinois veterans will honor Abraham
Lincoln's birthday with a visit to the Lincoln Tomb Historic Site in Springfield.
The tomb is the final resting place of President Lincoln, his wife Mary
and three of their four sons.
On Feb. 9 the Veterans of Foreign Wars will make its 66th annual
pilgrimage to the site. There will be a eulogy for the nation's 16th president,
followed by military honors.
On Feb. 12, which is Lincoln's
actual birthdate, members of Springfield American Legion Post 32 will hold
their 79th annual pilgrimage. They will lay wreaths from American Legions posts
across the country.
Both events are free and open to the public.
