Champaign – It is being called the largest gift to a public university this year.

The Grainger Foundation has pledged 100 million dollars to the University of Illinois. The money will be used to establish the "Grainger Engineering Breakthroughs Initiative," at U of I's College of Engineering.

The goal is to support researchers and students in areas like Bio-Engineering and "Big Data".
