CHAMPAIGN - The Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center is seeking donations to build Merci's Refuge, a shelter for women in crisis.
Director Greta Henry says the Christian ministries shelter will house and mentor up to eight women, ages 18-28, at a time. Between six months to a year, Henry says the women will undergo a program in addition to being cared for.
Over $100,000 has been donated at this time, but Henry says even more is needed to break ground this spring. Anyone interested in donating can head to mercisrefuge.org for more information.
Henry says they hope to open the refuge this fall, directly next to their Resource Center location on Wilber Avenue.
