Springfield – A man is charged in
federal court after a search allegedly leads to the largest possession of crack
cocaine in Jacksonville.
Police arrested 36 year old, Michael
Smith, of Jacksonville.
Police searched his home in the 200 block of Howe Street. They found a bag with over
five hundred grams of suspected crack cocaine, and 80 grams of suspected
heroin.
Smith appeared before the U.S. Magistrate
on Thursday. Smith was order to be detained in the custody of U.S. Marshals, and is awaiting a
preliminary hearing on Friday. Smith could face a minimum of 10 years to life
in prison.
