Decatur – Today marks the beginning of Black History Month.

In Decatur leaders kicked off the month-long celebration by honoring some local African American business leaders. The Decatur Black Chamber of Commerce held a ceremony at Main Street Church of the Living God.

Black History Month was first recognized by the US Government in 1976, as a way to remember the important people and events in the history of the African American culture.
