DANVILLE – One person is dead after a shooting incident Tuesday night in Fair Oaks.
Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason said that police were called to the 900 block of Lewis Lane at about 11 PM for shots fired in the area. Police found a 24 year old Danville man on the ground in that area, the apparent victim of a shooting.
"Information from the neighborhood is sketchy at this point," Thomason said, "but some witnesses said that several people may have been involved in an unknown confrontation resulting in shots being fired."
The victim was transported to the hospital in Danville where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Information on the individual will be released by the Vermilion County Coroner after family has been notified.
Thomason is asking for anyone with information about the shooting to contact Danville police or use Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS.
