Urbana (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn
has rededicated one of the centerpieces of the University of Illinois
campus after a three-year renovation project.
Quinn was on campus Tuesday to rededicate
century-old Lincoln Hall.
The building reopened for classes last
fall after the three-year, $64 million project. The state paid about $58
million of the cost.
Hall is one of the most noted buildings on campus, but was considered in urgent
need of repairs and modernization. No major work had been done on the building
The renovation work included adding
office and class space and improving the building's energy efficiency.
Evangelist Franklin Graham prayed on a sidewalk outside the Pentagon Thursday after his invitation to a prayer service inside was withdrawn because of comments that insulted people of other religions. More>>
