Eagle Scout Makes Dog Houses for Animal Shelter

A local eagle scout is making a difference in Decatur.

Jack Kaufman is building dog houses for the Macon County Animal Control and Care Center.

He said, he got his dog Sadie from the shelter and fell in love with the place, so he came back to volunteer. He knew they had a need for dog houses and started a project.

Jack Kaufman, a senior patrol leader said, "it allows them to be outside longer in the heat. Normally they can only stay out about an hour a day. Their interior kennels are really quit small so it's a lot better if they can get to run more and this just allows them to take a few minutes to cool off and play more."

He and his crew made 14 dog houses for the shelter.
