Pana – Christian County Sheriff is warning citizens of a phishing scam.
Sheriff, Bruce Kettelkamp said people have been receiving automated phone calls from an unavailable number. A recording then states that it is First National Bank of Pana, and they are temporarily suspending their debit cards.
After the message is played you are asked to press #1 and someone will ask for information to reactivate the debit card. The person will want the account number and pin, so they can reactivate the card.
Kettelkamp said this is a scam, and asks you to hang up on the call and contact you're bank if you have any questions about your account.
