Local leaders are taking another step forward to try and combat crime with a town meeting to Stop the Violence.
There have been neighborhood walks in the past, but on Wednesday officials want your input on ways to get teens off the streets and stay out of trouble.
One idea is for local organizations to team up and provide venues for prosperity. They want to take them away from gangs and minimize their influence on the young community.
Councilman Pat McDaniel said, the change starts at home.
Pat McDaniel told WAND, "if they don't have the structure at home they're not going to have the structure in society."
McDaniel added, this is a way to start taking action. People need to stop talking about the problem and start doing something about it. Not just leaders, everyone of all ages in the community can participate at the meeting.
