Elise Menaker co-anchors WAND News Today with Eric Steltzer. She joined the News team in February of 2013. She was born and raised in a suburb just north of Chicago.
Elise bleeds Big Red as a graduate from Cornell University. While at Cornell, she co-captained the softball team and won back-to-back Ivy League championships. After graduation, she played professional softball overseas in Sweden for the Skövde Saints, where the team captured its fifth straight national championship. She also competed in the European Cup in Amsterdam.
Before making the move to Central Illinois, Elise was a general assignment reporter at KMIZ-TV in Columbia, Missouri. While there, she covered a historic blizzard, heat wave and the Joplin tornado.
Elise received her master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism where she was named a Bloomberg Scholar. She also was named a Board of Governors' Scholar from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Midwest chapter.
Elise knew she wanted to be a reporter while interning in the Sports Department at WLS-TV, the number one rated television station in Chicago. She had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of covering former White Sox pitcher's Mark Buehrle's perfect game. But don't get the wrong idea North Siders, Elise is a Cubs fan at heart.
