Harrisburg – It has been exactly one year since a deadly tornado in Southern Illinois.
The Harrisburg tornado touched down during leap year February 29th of last year. The E4-tornado was 200 yards wide, with top winds of 170 miles per hour. The tornado damaged or destroyed nearly three hundred homes in a town of 9 thousand.
Eight people were killed, and hundreds were injured. Today residents will be holding a vigil to remember those lives lost.
